What To Do If You Are A Victim of Crime
If you find that you are an unfortunate victim of street crime, please follow the following advice. First and foremost, report the crime to the tourism or the regular Turkish National Police force. If your passport was stolen, please visit our lost/stolen passport tab under the passport section to allow us to help you replace it. If your credit/debit card(s) were stolen, call your bank immediately and cancel any future transactions that may be charged to the stolen card. We advise that you never carry all your money at once. If all of your money is stolen, one of your options is to have friends or relatives wire the money to you. One of the most popular ways to accomplish this is to use Western Union. We have included the link to their website to allow you to contact them, find the nearest branch, and give you further instructions on how the money can be wired to you. http://www.westernunion.com/WUCOMWEB/staticMid.do?method=load&countryCode=US&languageCode=en&pagename=HomePage&src=gg_US_brand_eng&gclid=CO673ezgyKkCFSIRNAodmHJIMA.
If your plane ticket has been stolen, after you file a report with the police, we recommend that you get in contact with your airline in regard to the finding out how to cancel your old ticket and how to obtain a new ticket.
If you are the victim of a violent crime (rape, attempted murder, etc.), we strongly advise you to call the Turkish National Police and to get in contact with us as soon as possible. You can reach us on our emergency number 90-212-335 9000. By getting in contact with the police and our office as soon as possible, we will be able to advise you on the appropriate steps you need to undertake.
