Turkish Library Week Programs in Istanbul and Region

March 26-30, 2007

Information Resource Officer, Michael Huff delivered 6 presentations on "Internet and Information Literacy" to a total of 2000 high school students from 32 schools, as well as teachers, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture officials, and professional librarians in recognition of Turkish National Library Week.

The programs took place in different venues in Istanbul and Bursa throughout the week of March 25-31, 2007 and were organized by Istanbul Consulate, Information Resource Center in cooperation with Istanbul Greater City Municipality Directorate of Libraries and Museums, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, Bursa Greater Municipality City Library, and Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Michael Huff was interviewed by the all-news channel NTV and Hurriyet Daily. This program provided the opportunity to reach out to such a great number of youngsters, advocating information awareness as the solution for one of the major issues in Turkey’s social agenda.
