NGO Speaker in Istanbul Reaches Broad Audience

December 9-15, 2005

Prof. Jodi Sandfort visited Turkey from December 9-15 in Istanbul and Bursa to reach local audiences.  Prof. Sandfort, from the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota, spoke in Istanbul about poverty eradication efforts in the United States with NGO leaders at the Rainbow Women’s Platform and with the Poverty Research Center of the prominent Deniz Feneri charity.

In Bursa, she addressed local NGO leaders on the same subject.  She spoke on early childhood education and other women’s issues before professional women at the Mother and Child Foundation and with leaders of the Foundation for Supporting Women’s Work, where she also visited one of its anti-poverty projects in the Istanbul slums.  Ms. Sandfort also spoke before students and professors at Uludag University in Bursa and at the Bosphorous University in Istanbul.
