Unveiling of the Commemorative Plaque CeremonyIstanbul, February 7, 2007
The commemorative plaque was unveiled by Ross L. Wilson, U.S. Ambassador to Turkey and Deborah K. Jones, U.S. Consul General Istanbul. The ceremony was held at the Istinye building of the U.S. Consulate General with the attendance of consulate employees. The plaque was originally dedicated on July 4, 1922 by resident Americans in Istanbul to honor of Commodore David Porter of the U.S. Navy, the first diplomatic representative of the USA accredited to Turkey.
