Istanbul PAO Reaches 300 Students with Information Literacy Lecture
December 11, 2007
Istanbul Public Affairs Officer Craig Kuehl gave a lecture on Information Literacy, based on a PowerPoint presentation prepared by IRO Michael Huff at Kadikoy Anadolu Lisesi. The lecture was attended by 300 high school students from grades 9 to 11, and their teachers and administrators. Before the program the PAO was invited for lunch with the school principal, other administrators and members of the Board of Directors, including the chairman. The group's main concern is to develop the school's English Teaching program, and they are eager to cooperate with the Consulate in any activities (including working with the ELO, inviting U.S. speakers, consulate officers, and ELF) geared to engage their students in English conversation. They would like to have an on-going relationship, similar to their historical connection in the 1960s with the American Peace Corps volunteers who had a great role in establishing this institution as one of the very best in the country.
