General Information

The Press Section handles relations between the U.S. Consulate General and the media in Istanbul to:

- provide and verify information on U.S. foreign policy positions; promote the depth, accuracy, and balance of foreign reporting on the U.S.,

- organize press briefings and media events including requested interviews with key U.S. government officials - with those currently assigned to this post, and others visiting Istanbul.

The Press Section also works with the Turkish press corps to facilitate travel to the U.S. for training and reporting purposes. Occasionally, the Press Section will sponsor journalism training sessions and arrange for speaking tours by media experts and other professionals with schools of communication in Turkey.
