Georgetown Speaker in Istanbul Reaches Wide Audiences on U.S. Foreign Policy

Robert Lieber, Georgetown University Professor of Government and International Affairs visited Istanbul on December 13-15.  Mr. Lieber, author of the recently released book “The American Era: Power and Strategy for the 21^st Century,” delivered a lecture to academics, journalists, and local representatives from the ruling Justice and Development Party. 

Mr. Lieber argued that, given the dual threats of Islamic terrorism and weapons of mass destruction, it was necessary for the U.S. to take on a strong leadership role to cope with these perils.  He also spoke to a group of graduate students of international relations and their professors at Bilgi University.  IRC Istanbul translated a book review and an article by Lieber and oversaw their distribution to all audiences.
