Supreme Court Justices Visit Istanbul

U.S. Supreme Court Justices Scalia and O'Connor visited Istanbul privately to attend the annual meeting of Central European and Eurasian Law Initiative (CEELI). They also had an opportunity to meet with Turkish lawyers and scholars on July 13.  Justice Scalia gave an interview on the American judiciary with national 24-hour news channel NTV.   He also met with the law school deans from Bahcesehir and Yeditepe Universities and spoke to students from three different law schools.

The Justices explained the American legal system to influential Turkish legal figures and the public as Turkey begins extensive legal reforms-many following the Anglo-American model-as part of its preparations to enter the EU.
