General Information

All American Citizen Services are available on a walk-in basis at the U.S. Consulate General in Istanbul, located at:

Kaplicalar Mevkii Sokak No. 2
Istinye, Istanbul  

Hours of operation are Monday – Thursday from 08:00 – 11:30 and 13:30-15:00.  The ACS Unit is closed Fridays and Turkish and American holidays.

In case of an emergency involving an American citizen, please call 0212-335-9000 for 24-hour assistance.  Recorded information on consular services is available 24 hours a day by calling 0212-335-9200.

Department of State Establishes Call Center for American Citizens

The Bureau of Consular Affairs Office of Overseas Citizen Services has established a call center to receive inquires regarding the safety and security of American Citizens overseas. It is currently operating from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, but will go 24 hours if needed in times of crisis. The toll-free phone number in the U.S. is 1-888-407-4747. From outside of America, the call center may be reached by dialing 317-472-2328.

This is a new and additional resource for Americans looking to receive the most up-to-date information without having to make international phone calls. Americans resident in, or visiting Turkey may wish to pass this phone number to their friends and family in the United States who may be worried about them.
