Havikoro Break Dance Group Electrifies Istanbul

Following performances in Ankara and Izmir, the HaviKoro break dance group came to Istanbul June 27-30, thrilling thousands of Turkish break dancers and fans.  On June 27, recent participants in a popular, nationally televised break dance competition and their instructors invited the group to a club for a “welcome party” on the Asian side of Istanbul.  To the delight of hundreds of onlookers, the HaviKoro group members and their Turkish counterparts held an impromptu jam session.  The following day, the group held workshops for seventy-five beginning and advanced break dancers at a famous dance academy, which had trained the winners of a recent TV dance competition.  The workshops were followed by another jam session with Istanbul’s top break dancers.  On June 29, with Consul General Jones in attendance, HaviKoro performed at a popular Istanbul club packed to capacity with 2,000 enthusiastic break dance fans.
