U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates Visits Turkey

U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates is joining other NATO Defense Ministers in Istanbul on 4-5 February 2010 to discuss a number of issues facing the alliance, including the evolving NATO-led operation in Afghanistan, continued engagement in Kosovo and the pressing need for defense transformation. The Secretary will then travel to Ankara where he will conduct meetings with Turkish government and military leaders on February 5-6.  He very much looks forward to returning to the Turkish capital and discussing regional and bilateral security issues with Prime Minister Erdoğan, Defense Minister Gönül and Turkish Chief of Staff General Başbuğ.
