U.S. Speaker on Media Effects on Children

PAS Istanbul supported the 3^rd International Children and Communication Congress, organized by Istanbul University November 6-8.  U.S. keynote speaker Gloria DeGaetano, founder and CEO of The Parent Coaching Institute, addressed an audience of academics, students, and NGO representatives from all over Turkey on “Developing and Maintaining Children’s Authentic Self Identity.”  DeGaetano addressed a group of parents, teachers and administrators from a consortium of private schools on “Parenting Well in a Media Age.”  At a university in Istanbul, DeGaetano spoke to a group of teacher education students.     DeGaetano went to Bursa, Turkey’s fourth largest city, where she spoke to a group of over mothers, representatives of NGOs and social service organizations, and trainees from the police academy on the harm of “screen machines,” on children.  A press interview with DeGaetano appeared in one of Bursa’s largest circulating papers.
