At this point, we have received no reports of U.S. citizens killed or injured in the earthquake in Van. Our Embassy and Consulates in Turkey are working to obtain information on the status of U.S. citizens and to provide assistance as necessary to those affected.

The Bureau of Consular Affairs Office of Overseas Citizen Services has established a call center to receive inquiries regarding the safety and security of American citizens overseas. You can call the center from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, in times of crisis the hours are extended to 24 hours. The toll-free phone number in the U.S. is 1-888-407-4747.
