Turkish Audiences Learn About Mid-Term Elections from Georgetown Professor

During his visit to Turkey, U.S. Speaker and Georgetown University Government Professor Clyde Wilcox presented a series of presentations on the U.S. mid-term elections. Beginning in Ankara, Wilcox spoke to senior academics and government officials at the Ambassador’s residence. He then met with diplomatic correspondents for breakfast and spoke as part of a panel at the Turkish American Association. While in Ankara he also spoke to faculty and graduate students on "Religion and American Politics". In Istanbul, he addressed academics, journalists and political leaders at a CG-hosted dinner; members of NGOs working to train and support women interested in entering politics; students and faculty, and members of political parties from Istanbul Province. On November 3, he spoke to students and faculty at a university near Istanbul.
Wilcox on November 3 gave a live twenty-minute interview on the all news channel CNN-Turk. He was also interviewed by the other major Turkish 24-hour news channel, NTV. Finally, an interview to national daily Hurriyet. Wilcox provided extensive, accurate information on the mid-term elections and countered misperceptions concerning the American political scene.
