Consul General Sharon Wiener Visits Bursa

Consul General Sharon Wiener paid her first protocol visit to the city of Bursa on November 28, 2007.  During this visit Consul General Wiener met with Governor Nihat Canpolat, Mayor Hikmet Sahin, Local Agenda 21 Director Tahsin Bulut and members of the Women's Platform.  She also met with the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Celal Sonmez and the chamber's board members.  She made a special visit to the American Corner, a resource center about American business, education, travel and other matters of interest to the public.

During all of her meetings the consul general emphasized the importance of continued good U.S.-Turkish relations and made clear that the PKK is a common enemy of both Turkey and the United States.
