Istanbul IRC's InfoUSA Stand at the 27th Istanbul Book Fair

The 27th Istanbul Book Fair - organized by TÜYAP Tüm Fuarcılık Yapım A.Ş. and the Turkish Publishers Association - took place at TÜYAP Fair, Convention and Congress Center in Beylikdüzü between the dates November 1 - 9, 2008. The total number of visitors this year was around 350,000 people. Some 550 publishing houses and nongovernmental organizations attended the fair with various book-signing events, readings and panel discussions involving 750 authors from Turkey and abroad. This year, the main theme of the Book Fair was "1968: 40 years before, 40 years after." American journalist-writer Mark Kurlansky attended the fair as a guest writer and also participated in a panel discussion on the opening day. Istanbul IRC's InfoUSA stand generated a great interest among fair visitors, youth in particular. With touchscreen voting and life-size standup poster of President-elect Barack Obama as the two most widely popular attractions at the display booth area, IRC Istanbul also took the opportunity to distribute a wide range of IIP publications and IRC e-products (both in English and Turkish) to fair visitors.
