Consul General Presents 2007 U.S. Coast Guard AMVER Awards

Consul General Sharon Wiener and LCDR Daniel Van Buskirk, the US Coast Guard International Port Security Program representative based in Rotterdam, presented the 2007 U.S. Coast Guard AMVER (Assistance Rescue Vessel) awards at a cermony at the CG's official residence. The awards were given to five Turkish shipping companies who participate in the AMVER program, which for over 50 years has coordinated shipping information in an effort to arrange emergency assistance to those who need it on the high seas. This year’s winners included Cornships Management; Deniz Nakliyatı T.A.Ş:; Geden Lines; Sunset Maritime Ltd.; and YaSa Shipping.
